Can't add personalized emoticons with 8.1

Hi there,

whenever somebody sends me a personalized (self-made, not protected)
emoticon, I can't add this to my emoticons with Messenger 8.1. There is no
"add" context menu when right clicking on the emoticon. If I use Messenger
8.0 there is the "add" option. ("Hinzufügen" in German - I'm not sure,
weather I translated it correctly).

I heard this of other people using 8.1 also. Is this I known issue of
Messenger 8.1?

A few things could breaking this.

The first is that Messenger didn't properly connect to the web configuration service and
therefore disabled this feature as its not available in all locales. In this case, sign out
and sign back in to try to reconnect to it.

The second that your account is set to a locale which doesn't allow this feature to be
activated. What locale (country) is your account set to?

The third is that you've used a third-party Messenger patch which sometimes breaks this
feature. In this case, simply reinstall Messenger.

Hi Jonathan,

thanks for your reply It's good to know, that this feature isn't totally
disabled in the new version of messenger. I thought so, as when I install
8.0, the feature starts working again immediately.

I don't think this is the cause of the problem, as the feature stopped
working, weeks ago, and never did again since then.

My account should be set to Germany. I don't think that the setting
"Germany" is the problem - as all my friends would have the same problem
then.

The only extension I've installed is Messenger Plus!. I'll give reinstalling
without Messenger Plus! a try.
