Can't boot after restoring machine from backup image

I bought Echo Workstation with UR and tried to install the backup image to a
new computer but that did not work - it installed the backup but the new
machine won't boot up saying Bootmgr is missing.

I also had to install a new motherboard. Now neither of my drives with
Vista will boot. Also can not repair with vista repair in CD. Short of
a clean reinstall is there a workaround so that the drives will boot.
