Can't boot after windows update

I performed all priority updates today and was up to date and running OK. I
performed a couple optional updates (Don't recall; the numbers) and they
downloaded and installed fine. When I restarted the computer, the computer
would not come up. I tried coming up via the "Last know working
configuration" No good. Tried system restore. No good. Tried another system
restore to a earlier time. Still no good. How can I delete the windows
updates if I can't get onto the internet? Is there a way I can disable the
latest updates locally. How do I know what the last updates were? I'm on
Windows XP with SP2.
