can't change home page

I am having a similar problem with an inability to change my home page as
have other posters. My original home page from my ISP was changed to a
different URL. When I attempted to change my home page to the new URL, IE 7
reverted back to the old URL. If I add the new URL as a secondary home page,
both pages come up, but the original URL, which no longer displays a page,
comes up first. IE 7 will not allow the new URL to be listed as primary. I
have tried changing the home page in safe mode, checked settings of spyware
programs, tried to remove the old URL, leaving only the new URL (yes,
clicking "apply" and "close") all to no avail. I haven't attempted getting
into the registry, as that is somewhat scary to me. Any other ideas without
entering the registry?

Hey Mike,
I realize it's now several days later but...

I had the same prob...tried 'start-with-no-add-ons'...no luck.

I disabled my Trend Micro Antivirus and my Webroot Spy Sweeper...
Picked: Home>Remove>(name-of-my-home-page) and it was done at once.
Quickly re-enabled AV and Spy Sweeper. (I probably should have done the
fix while 'off-line') :-o

You also might check Frank Saunders reply to the post from Nando ("Can
not change home page") which follows yours for more 'possible suspects'.
