Can't clear 'Run...as admin" checkbox.

In trying to get a program to work correctly I checked the "Run this program
as an administrator" checkbox in Properties>Compatibility. Since this didn't
solve the problem I now want to uncheck the box but it is greyed out so that
I can't uncheck it.

If I go into "Show settings for all users" it is unchecked and not greyed
out. If I log in to the admin account and go to Properties>Compatibility it
is unchecked and not greyed, (same in "Show settings for all users"). In
other words, the only place that it is checked is in Properties>Compatibility
on the standard account where I checked it and I can't uncheck it from there.

Does anyone know how I can get this box unchecked so that this program is no
longer run as an administrator?

This "standard" account that you are using, was it a member of the
administrators group at one time and is no longer? Is it a local account or
network account? If it is a network account make sure you are not logging on
with cached credentials.

I was able to recreate this by using an account that was a member of the
admins group, changing the compatibility mode, removing the account from the
admins group and logging off and back on.

Thanks Sam. That was it. I had forgotten that in my attempts to get this
program working I had briefly tried making the standard account an
administrator account. It must have been during this time that I marked the
program to "Run...as admin". (That'll teach me to introduce multiple
variables during diag.) Anyway, I made the account Admin again and was able
to uncheck the box. Thanks for the hint.
