Can't connect to internet after updates

Yesterday after receiving the automatic updates I could not connect to the
internet. I uninstalled all the new updates and could get online no problem.
This morning I've had exactly the same problem - was working online, the
updates automatically restarted the computer, couldn't get online,
uninstalled all the updates, could get online again. Should I turn off the
automatic updates? Is there a solution I don't know about, help!!
