Can't delete Emails from OE

A friend cannot delete emails from her outlook express (She uses XP and I
think she's using IE6). She can send them to the delete folder but they
won't move from there, no matter what she does. Is there a way to remove and
reinstall Outlook express? Any other suggestions?

By the way, I thought I'd find out where my .dbx files are stored. I went
through Docs and setting/my user name/application data/ identities... (long
file name), but the folder was empty. Could not find where my emails are
stored. ???

Thanks Shark. I'll get her in install IE 7.

I've been to the Identities folder and the one inside that where OE mail is
supposed to be stored (according to OE/Tools/options/etc.) but it's empty.

Anyway, my main question is how to solve my friend's problem of not being
able to completely delete her emails.

Deleted Items is probably corrupt.
Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and see where OE is
storing its data files.
Close OE.
Go to the store folder with Windows Explorer and delete Deleted Items.dbx.
With Win2K, WinXP and Win2K3 it will be a hidden file.
OE will build a new one when you reopen it.

If Deleted Items has messages you want to keep, instead of deleting it move
(not copy) it to an empty Windows folder. Then use DBXtract on the old
Deleted Items.dbx.
DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/
You can drag the recovered messages from the Windows folder back into an OE
folder in the Folder List in an open OE.
