I Can't Disable Remote Differential Compression (Generic error)

From reading posts on here it seems clear that I need to try to disable
remote differential compression to speed up my VPN connection. When
I go into control panel -> programs and features -> turn windows
features on or off -> uncheck remote differential compression and click
"OK". I get a "Not all changes were completed" error message. There
is nothing in the Event Viewer either that tells me exactly what went
wrong.

Does anybody know of a command line script or a registry key that will
allow me to disable the RDC instead of the GUI??
