Can't Display page error : 0x800A0046

When trying to update winXP - get this error:
Can't Display page error : 0x800A0046

Can Anyone offer some help?

Ok see here is what I did to fix this problem on my machine. I hope everyone
has the same success.

1. Goto HK_C_U\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\W indows Update and
deleted the key
2. Goto HK_L_M\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\W indows Update and
deleted the key
3. Open HIJACKTHIS and deleted this: DPF:
{6414512B-B978-451D-A0D8-FCFDF33E833C} (WUWebControl Class) -
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...?1093475842247

4. Log off system and goto Windows Update... allow the active x control to
install and then run windows setup install file when prompted.

Hi

I also got the same problem, I looked and tried every solutions, but with no
luck, then I tried to Log on as Local "Administrator" instead of my user
name, then it worked and I didn´t get the error message.
My username were with a space between my first name and my lastname, I
changed that, so the space disapeared, and Now it works under my own username.

Own Username is Local Administrator.

I had the same problem.
I found a soultion that worked for me in the windows update troubleshooter.
Here is a direct link to the soultions listed. The second one worked for me.

Addendum:

I had the same problem.
I found a soultion that worked for me in the windows update troubleshooter.
Here is a direct link to the soultion.

I removed "Guest" from the "Memeber of" tab. Then restarted the computer and
ran windows update. It worked fine.

- Restart computer
- Before Xp boots up, hit "F8" to get into boot menu
- choose "recover to previous known worked configuration" or similar

That fixed the problem for me.
