Hi all - I have a fully legit copy of Windows installed, and since I replace
the mobo (replacement not an upgrade) I can't do any updates - I just get an
error that says..."Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display
the requested page. You may find the following resources helpful in resolving
the problem: blah blah blah" - hence me ending up here.

Has anyone got any clues as to why this may have happend.
I'm fully service pack 2, directx 9.0c. Do I need to reactivate somehow?

Thanks in advance.
Please respond.

You may have a ActiveX problem. Have you tried downloading/Logging on any
website that relies on activeX controls(i.e- on-line antivirus checks
www.pandasoftware or bank acct's online) If you do this and have the same
results(can't log on) then you need to change your ActiveX control to enable(
XP SP2 disables ActiveX automatically. This will leave you vunerable to
viruses but if you have an antivirus software then you should be fine. If you
don't have AV then try adding "http://windowsupdatemicrosoft.com";
"http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com";"http://download.windowsupdate.com"
to your Trusted Sites in Internet Options.
