You were mistaken in seeking the complication of beta testing IE7
at a time when your computer is not free of problems. Zone Alarm
is not an anti-virus program. It is a firewall plus anti-spyware program.
You need a firewall, and Windows XP has a built in firewall which may
not be as spiffy as Zone Alarm's, but it is there and normally on. What
I am willing to do is to help you to get updates. That is the function of
this newsgroup. Let's stick to the newsgroup and not email each other.
If you have installed Internet Explorer 7, uninstall it. Click Start, then
Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, select IE7, click remove.
This should restore Internet Explorer 6, which isn't beta - not trial.
Microsoft is willing to let users try OneCare free for three months:

Select > Go in the Try It Free section, give your email and get it.
That should get rid of any viruses and spyware you have.
Before you install OneCare you should uninstall Zone Alarm.
What you're looking for is a firewall, an anti-virus and anti-spyware.
I've tried OneCare - it's simply all three. I decided to go with a more
complicated solution - three different programs - but OneCare is OK.
Let's take a look at the worst trouble you might have to go through.
Some people who are familiar with Windows are resigned to
periodically completely reinstalling it. It's tedious - they usually try other
things before overwriting all the information on the computer, but it's
a way of getting rid of any and all problems that have accumulated.

If you want to hose everything out and make a fresh start, that's
worth examining. Am I right in thinking you have Windows XP sp2?
