cant download windows live messenger

i just got a new computer. windows vista 32bit and im tying to download
windows live messenger and and it goes to the windows live installer.
and its installing. when it gets to the end of the the instalation. it
sais. sorry.this is taking a little longer than expected.please bear
with us a few more minutes. then is goes again and again and after a
while it stasts downloading and when it gets to 99% it sais not
installed. to try to fix the problem.click try again later. CAN
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.:cry:

i did that and then an error occurs it said.

an error occured during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft. VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.163",type="win32",pibl icKe
Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="x8 6""

thats the exact error do u know how to fix it?

i have the exact same problem exept i hav xp and i got my computer wiped and
when i got it back i couldnt install the new messenger im stuck with the old
2004 version someone plz help note it is not my firewall i disabled that
while i was installing it
