Can't get google mail with Outlook on Vista

Hi - sorry it's long
I joined sky broadband and can't get email through Outlook
I have just discovered that one can't configure Windows Mail to use a
Web-based (HTTP) e-mail account in Windows Vista

Windows Mail no longer supports the HTTP servers that are used by
Hotmail and other Web-based e-mail providers such as AOL mail, Google
mail, and Yahoo! mail.

Steps to resolve the problem
Use Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail
Windows Live Mail is an e-mail program that you install on your
computer. Windows Live Mail stores messages on your computer. This
means that you can access, read, and compose e-mail messages even when
you are not connected to the Internet.

Windows Live Mail works with popular Web-based e-mail services such as
Hotmail, AOL mail, Google mail, and Yahoo! mail. Windows Live Mail is
built to automatically configure many popular e-mail services.

Does anyone know of a patch\fix for outlook?

I'm running Vista & can't get sky's google mail to work with Mail
washer, Agent, Windows Mail or Outlook
Looks like I'm returning to XP

Yeah, we know.
You can use Outlook to access your Hotmail/Live accounts by downloading and
installing the Connector...

Log into Google Mail. Goto Settings then POP/Forwarding. Enable POP3 (or
IMAP if you want to get all your mail, not just new email).
Follow the instructions in Google Mail's pages.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET ANY MORE SOFTWARE!!
Vista's built in Mail will work, so will Outlook Office.

I eventually got it sorted
I was running a 'test my email' in outlook before I had logged into my
sky email account and enable pop access
Very simple when one knows how
