my comp had a virus problem, so i had to system restore it, uninstall norton,
and install another antivirus program to get rid of the problem. well now
when i try to visit the update site, nothing displays at all. when i try to
access the update tab in the properties part of my comp, it doesn't load.
when i try to download service pack 2 from the download page and try to
install, it says i don't have the expected version. how do i correct it? if i
try to install service pack 3 (which i downloaded/saved the installation pack
from the download page), would it work, or is there something else that i'm
missing that i have to do? i also seem to have error messages about an image
file in system 32 (it changes which are messed up, but all are .dll files
(like when i try to go into real player or use google update to get free
software to protect my computer). i'm going to try to install service pack 3
tonight after i get a ram chip (since my computer got so slow after
installing mcafee).

Which version of Windows are you running ? If it's XP, then what's
needed is to run sfc/ scannow to replace damaged/corrupted/missing
files: http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

Removing NAV *may* have damaged MS Windows Script:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
Download, save, close IE, and install
WindowsXP-Windows2000-Script56-KB917344-x86-enu.exe

i have xp. so running the sfc/scannow will fix any dll files in system 32
that are damaged/corrupted (or any other files for that matter)? will doing
this and the other thing allow me to be able to see the update page/update my
comp? i got more ram, although someone here at school told me that i need a
third of my processing power for it to run right, and it is 2 GHz, so that
means i need at least 667-700mb right (i have about 600 mb of ram now, even
though i have a 128 chip and a 512 chip in)?

so if i do sfc/ scannow, and i get an error message asking for the
installation disc, do i have to call the company that made my computer to get
a disc? i never got one when i bought the computer from walmart, so i was
just wondering.
