Can't get online by clicking on butterfly

A window comes up displaying : MSN Archive: checksum mismatch in file
themedef 32.maropup.wav.

I can get online thru Internet Explorer but don't have full access to other
features, such as Favorites. If it helps, McAfee was replaced by AVG several
months ago but the problem occurred well after that change.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

It sounds like MSN Explorer is corrupt. If you are an MSN subscriber -
http://support.msn.com
If your account is through a partner such as Qwest or Verizon, contact them.
You can also try reinstalling MSN Explorer from disc or via download from
http://membercenter.msn.com
Note that there are newsgroups for MSN subscribers that would be a more
appropriate venue for community help with MSN. The first is for Dial-up, the
other is for general MSN discussion:

I don't find the MCPR.exe button. In the upper section I find a DOWNLOADS
button immediately followed by: Author's Site, MajorGeeks-USA and another
MajorGeeks-USA.
In the next section down I find a RECOMMENDED DOWNLOAD button which seems to
be a Spyware Doctor which doesn't sound like what is needed. Can you give
this neophyte a bit more specificity?

Bob, your 2nd MCPR site worked OK and it did remove a group of products but,
after rebooting I still had the problem. I do appreciate your help and will

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is
being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure of.
