Can't get skins to work?

Any skin I try to install gives me the following error:
Windows Media Player encountered a problem with the skin file. The skin file
might not be valid.
These are the skin files from microsoft. :/ I'm not sure why it won't work
but I really want it to. Any ideas? I'm on WMP11.
