I have already read kb article 948343 and none of the causes affect me I
think, because I do have the intel display driver Igdkmd32.sys but its
version is 7.14.10.1437 which is newer than the ones that is listed in the
article. However, when I did a full system search for the file I did find
older version of it in two different locations, one in C:\windows\drivers\
folder and the other in windows\system32\DriverStore\FileRespository. Also,
even though I do not have a Bometric Fingerprint Sensor there is a folder
located in the windows\drivers for the UPEK Fingerprint Senor which has the
tcusp.sys file version 1.9.2.99. I did delete both the the intel and upek
folders located in the windows\drivers folder in hopes of resolving the issue
but I still cant get vista sp1. And I deleted the tcusp.sys driver from my
system32 folder because again I do not have a finderprint sensor and no other
hardware uses the it. I have already tried the free support for vista sp1
from microsft and they wanted me to download the stand-alone version, that is
not acceptable as I should be able to get it from wu and I dont want to waste
time and space to download just to find out it will not install and give all
kinds of problems, who knows maybe it will go without a hitch put im not
taking that risk. So I am asking if there is any other solution or should I
say heck with it and install windows xp, because it is so tempting to do
right now, btw I did install I think 9 updates that were released yesterday
and then re-checked for updates again after reboot and still no sp1 availabe.
Sorry for the long post but I am really frustrated with this.
