Not sure what next to look for in relation to this problem. Starting
about 2 days ago my computer has been failing to enter and stay in
standby mode. I had set the power button to initiate hibernate, sleep
button to initiate sleep and close the lid to turn the computer off. All
was working fine and settings are all as they should be, to my knowlege
nothing has been changed but when I press the power button or try to
enter hibernate through the start menu, the computer enters hibernate
and then instantly starts back up. I am able to turn the competer off
completely (thankfully) but no luck with hibernate. System restore is
failing to work also so I am not able to set the system back to an
earlier state.

Any suggestions would be greatly accepted

Hello Nugget,

You might see if the items listed here may be able to help you
determine what may be waking your computer up.

Hope this helps,

Just tried another system restore and got the same error (I have
attached jpeg of the error window) the computer is only 1 month old, HP
Pavilion HDX, all seems to be running well. I have run the HP system
check program that tells me all is well, I get the feeling that the
error is probably software related, system and all data is backed up to
an external HDD so a clean install is probably the easiest solution

Thanks again Shawn

Yeah, it sounds like you have some form of corruption. Hopefully a clean
install is all that is needed.
