Can't install any updates

I recently had to have my laptop reformatted and am now unable to install any
updates. I was running Windows XP Home, and have now upgraded to Windows XP
Pro. I have over 80 updates, and service pack 3 to install. I have no problem
when I'm downloading the updates, but every one of them fails when they try
to install.

Can anyone help with this?
