**MY COMPUTER/INFORMATION**
I have Windows Vista...Dell Computer...PC...XPS M1530...don't know what
other information you might need to know...
**MAIN PROBLEM**
I currently have 61 available updates, 22 of which I would really like to
install now. Every time I try to install them, I get the same message,
telling me that they've all failed to install, and that the following errors
were found:
"Code 80070002 Windows Update encountered an unknown error."
**ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE PROBLEM**
I have followed the instructions listed for 80070002 on the Windows Help and
Support page. --- Nothing changed.
I have also followed the instructions listed here (the set of instructions
on the page listed as being for Vista users):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956698.
I have searched through various discussions, but found nothing that would
solve my problem. Please Help!
P.S
**ADDITIONAL POTENTIAL PROBLEMS**
As I stated above, I followed the instructions listed on the following page:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956698.
At the end of the instructions, in a section titled "notes," it says:
> If the issue is resolved, delete the rename.bat file that you created.
> When the issue is resolved, and you can successfully download and
install updates, you can safely delete the Download.old folder to recover
disk space.
Okay....So, what do I do if the whole process outlined on the page did
absolutely nothing to solve my problem? Do I wait to follow these last two
instructions until the issue is resolved???
