Can't install Critical Update for Windows XP Media Center Edition2004 (KB838358)

Hi.

I have not been able to install this update on a Toshiba Satellite
P15-S470 that came with Windows XP Media Center. It fails in v4 and v5
of Windows Updates. I am running SP1 right now (do SP2 later on when
things are calm).

Any ideas? I attached Windows Updates' log. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Only thing that I am able to find that relates to the error code
(0x8007f0f4) is that you are perhaps running on battery power when you tried
the update. You need to be plugged in during the installation. Source:

When you try to install an update to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or to Windows
XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, you may receive a "0x8007F0F4" error

Maybe it wasn't connected properly, or it's not working, or there was a
brief power failure, or...

Try removing the battery so that you're only using AC power and then try
again.

hi, i bought a toshiba notebook with the windows xp media center, and i can't
get anything from the windows update site. it shows me error number
0x80072EE2.
i have already patiently tried eveyone of the 6 methods the show at the
troubleshooting site to fix the problem but nune of them succeeded.
can anyone help me? pleeaseeee!

I Am Running Win2K Server and get the same error. So, I believe it has to do
with Media Center but MS has not been able to figure it out yet.
