Successfully ran AVG 7.5 for 6 months. Uninstalled to install 8.0 and
repeatedly get error msg 0x80070002. Installed Patch KB929547, + SP1,
disabled PC Tools Spyware Doctor, even let down the Firewall, all to no
avail. After installing SP1, get Error 0x80070005, so then I tried disabling
users, but that doesn't work either. Have successfully installed 8.0 on
another computer running Vista, just took about 4 times, as it kept timing
out, but finally succeeded. Any ideas? Please help!!!

Consider yourself lucky, and go get Avast or Avira

Their both just as free as AVG and are miles better

I have avg 8.0 free edition installed with vista OS. I think you have a
permissions problem. You have to try the installation of anti virus as
administrator, right click button.
I hope it helps.

I agree. Although I use and trust NOD32 I installed the AVG 8.0 just to
see how it performed. Too many problems and some incompatibility issues. It
didn't take long to decide to uninstall it.
Avast and Avira are both good, although Avira Antivir takes what seems
to be forever to connect with the server and download the updates. I've
tested them and if I wanted to use a free AV program it would be one of
these two.
It seems that AVG is going the way of McAfee and Norton.

Hi,

make sure you have the latest Framework installed. It might not help your
problem 100% but is usefull anyway.

You can get the latest Framework here:
