Can't Install HP Printer Software

I'm trying to install my printer software, so I can scan a document. I have
an HP psc 1350 printer that used to scan fine with xp. Anyway, when I try
to install the software, I get the message in quotes below. I am the
administrator, I am logged on as administrator, this is my own computer in
my own home, and I can't do a simple scan. Before I start up on a new Vista
rant, does someone know what I need to do to get past this error message.
BTW, this printer has been working fine as a printer - this is the first
time I've tried to scan since I switched from XP to Vista.

Restart the installation by removing and re-inserting this installation CD."
