Can't install KB885836

On my other computer, the critical update (KB885836) will not install. It uses WinXP Home SP2.

My first preference would be to find a way to install it. However, I know that others have had problems installing this update and I have not seen a solution for it.

The update relates to a security issue with Wordpad, and I never use Wordpad; so a good second choice would be to find a way to ignore the update from now on. Since it is a critical update, there is no way to hide it from the update list. Is there a way to get Windows to stop finding it?
