Can't install KB896358 in latest update.

I have automatic update, Win XP Pro SP2, which has worked well until
yesterday. This component won't update: The rest worked fine. Tried to
manually download the individual file: Still didn't work. Turned off Zone
Alarm and tried again: Didn't work.

I also cannot install KB896358 via automatic update nor by manually
downloading the update. I have Windows XP, SP2. Am waiting for a reply from
Microsoft support since yesterday. Have had no trouble with installing
previous updates from Microsoft.

I successfully installed KB896358 after following extensively detailed
instructions from Microsoft Windows Update Support. Basically I had to rename
the SoftwareDistribution folder. I am not very knowledgeable about software
fixes, but I followed what Wales Zhu wrote me to do step by step and it
successfully installed KB896358. My computer is working fine. Suggest
contacting Microsoft Windows Update Support for help. It worked for me!
