Can't install the latest Windows Live Messenger!!

I have tried several times to install the latest version of Windows Live
Messenger however the same problem occurs.
I always receive the error message stating that I have conflicting programs
open.
this is what appears:
"Please close all other open programs, and then try again. It looks like
another program is preventing the installer from working. hr:0x80070643"

I have uninstalled the old version and yet it still will not work.
Any ideas why??

Btw, I have Windows Vista

I have the same problem! I have tried many times to install the new windows
live messenger and it wont work. I too have Vista. Help!!

I had the same problem, until I uninstalled Windows Live Mail, Messenger and
Photo. And then I had to re-uninstall Windows Live Photo using Revo
Uninstaller (a free download). After all that, I was able to load the current
version of Windows Live Mail, Messenger and Photo.
