I had this problem with another update, in fact three updates. So, I
downloaded the three updates manually from a different site and applied them
while running in Safe Mode. This solved the problem. I had to use a command
line remedy which cleared the corrupted update log. The command line remedy
can be found under Windows update error 8007000b. It corrects the corrupted
update log file. Hopes this helps.
