Hi,

I'm experiencing exactly this problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=885264
However, I installed SP1 on the server which is having the problem, so
the fix should be included. Non the less, I tried to install it without

success: "Setup has detected that the service pack version of this
system is newer than the update you are applying". However, smtpsvc.dll

has file version 6.0.3790.1830, while the updated version should be
6.0.3790.211.

I tried reinstalling the bunch (smtp server, sp1, exchange server),
three times, without succes.

Is there any way to force the install or fix this in any way? Thanks

Windows & Exchange Server versions? Is the machine otherwise fully patched
at Windows Update?

The error message is telling you that the version of Reapi.dll that you're
attempting to install is older than the one currently installed. This
suggests that MS04-035 is not the resolution to your problems.

Thanks for the reply.

Sorry about the info: Server 2003 std SP1, Exchange server 2003 SP2.
Fully patched (I hope).

I managed to find out the crashes are caused by my gfi spamfilter. If I
keep it turned of I dont end up with the exact problem described in the
KB 885264 article...

I guess I have to bother GFI with this, they probably send me back to
microsoft I guess... wish me luck.

oh btw:

How did you manage to find that out? The security bulletin is talking
about the smtp dll. Is version 6.0.3790.211 older then 6.0.3790.1830??
