Can't install some windows updates

I would like to know if anybody knows how to resolve my issue. I was able to
install some updates but not the following KB 917734(getting installation
CANCELLED) which is for WMP 10, and I can't seemed to install IE7
successfully(Internet Explorer installation did not complete). Please help.
