"mau",

Would you please reply to this thread and tell us a little more about SP5 and
SP6? What are these related to? Are they service packs? If so, to what
application?

In the title of your posting, you mention Windows XP Professional with Service
Pack 2, also known as SP2 or XPSP2. This is the latest service pack for this
operating system.

In fact, the following link, among other things, spells out the latest service
pack for all supported Microsoft operating systems:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/lif...vicepacks.mspx

They are, as of April 1, 2005 (I'm using the 1st day of the month as a reference
point

Operating System Latest SP Date SP released Next Release
Windows Server 2003 SP1 2005/03/30 (Hey, it was just 2 days
ago!)
Windows XP SP2 2004/08/09 TBD
Windows 2000 SP4 2003/06/06 TBD
Windows NT 4.0 SP6a 1999/11/30 TBD

Sincerely,

Pat Walters [MSFT]

Thanks for your time Pat,

Yes.. I am talking about XP professional with service pack 2
and what I was trying to install is Visual Studio 6.0 service pack 6.0 or 5.0
I got the same errors with both service packs.

I have the following tools installed:
XP Professional + Service Pack 2 for XP
sql server 2000 + service pack 3 for sqlsvr
LotusNotes R6

and finally I wanted to install Visual Studio 60. and service pack 6.0
and then visual Studio .net.
but I need to have installed and working Visual Studio 6.0

thanks,
Mau
