I try downloading an update

Microsoft Works 8 (KB955428)

But when it try to install it, an error message came up and said

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is
unaviable....enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation
package 'WORKS8.MSI'...."

So am I missing something here or maybe I need help getting the update.

1. Right-click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop
(do NOT Run it):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D-0D0389C81F11

2. Right-click on the saved file and select "Run as Administrator"

3. Follow all prompts.

I am having this same issue. I have Vista Home Premium. Will it hurt
anything, or would it be better, if I just wait for MS to fix this update?
Will they ever actually fix it, or should I go ahead and follow the
suggestion from PA Bear? Confused!

Well MS jolly well ought to fix it. I've wasted time emailing them and only
getting links to this sort of site instead of a solution. What do they think
they are doing?

I've tried every disc that could possibly be relevant and searched the hard
drive for the file they mention and it is all totally useless. I continue to
be plagued by the update shield telling me every time I boot up that there is
an installation due, which then fails every time.

Well. I'm not going to waste more time and money on a phone call to them. If
enough of us complain, they'll have to do something about it
eventually.........

Did you try downloading the full update installer as PA Bear originally suggested?

Um. If you don't phone them, how will they know you're complaining? (Also,
note that since this is a security update it should qualify for free support.)

Harry.

[Actually, user needs to go to
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D-0D0389C81F11,
identify the appropriate download (e.g., KB955428_en-US.cab for English-US
machines) and then SAVE that (cab) file.]
