can't install updates anymore

Since some weeks I can't install critical updates anymore. My machine
does connect through the Windows Update Service and finds all
recommenden and important updates. The installation starts but is never
succesful.
The error code that I usually receive is 800736B2.
Finally I tried installing the Beta Version of Vista SP2 - also no
success: The error code here is : error_sxs_invalid_actctxdata_format
In another thread I found that this issue can somehow be related to a
spybot tea timer installation. I had this software installed on my
machine and de-installed it some weeks ago. It is possible that the tea
timer option was checked.
I have Vista ultimate installed on my computer.

Any hint to fix this issue is really welcome

800736B2 ERROR_SXS_INVALID_ACTCTXDATA_FORMAT
The application binding data format is invalid.

Having uninstalled Spybot without first fully disabling Spybot Tea Timer
could be the cause of this behavior. I'd recommend (1) reinstalling Spybot;
(2) enabling Tea Timer; (3) fully disable Tea Timer per
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=32409; and then (4) uninstalling Spybot
again.

When does your NOD32 subscription expire?

Did a Norton or McAfee application come preinstalled on the machine when you
bought it?

I followed your recommendations. Installing Spybot - enabling Teatime
- disabling Teatimer as described - uninstalling Spybot and finally
reboot of the machine. Still the same error. None of the Updates can b
installed

My NOD32 subscription expires on December 28th this year - no, neithe
Norton nor McAfee was preinstalled on my machine
