There's a lot of possible reasons for this happening, I haven't fully compiled some adequate
answers yet, but if you're looking for a quick workaround, just download and run the
following two MSI files to get Messenger up and working:
Windows Live Communications Platform:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/red...c/contacts.asp
Messenger 2009:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/w3rc/wlm.asp
After this you'll find Messenger on the start menu under the Windows Live folder.
