Can't install Windows XP SP2

I've been trying to install Security Update for Windows XP (KB914798) and
Windows XP Service Pack 2, but everytime it gets to the middle of installing,
the messege pops up as "Unable to read from or write to the database". What
should I do?

Error message that you receive when you try to update a Windows XP-based
computer to Windows XP Service Pack 2 by visiting the Windows Update Web
site: "Unable to read from or write to database"
