Can't locate favorites after they have been saved

when I save a web page as a favorite they seam to saveb but I cant find them
anywhere. If I try to save the same web page as a favorite I get a diaglog
box that says "the name you have entered for the shortcut already exists in
your faforites menu. would you like to overwright it". This leads me to
believe that the favorites are somewhere on the computer. I do have some old
favorites that can be used, but new ones can not be.
