I just downloaded windows live messenger. I cant sign in, I keep getting an
error that says temp unavailable. I tried to sign in to the online messenger
and it wont let me in either. I've checked all my setting from what I can
tell. The .net service shows that it is running. any suggestions?

Greetings,

The service is down right now (for most people). The only thing you can do is try again
later.

Hi Jonathan

Can you please advise then, why when we check the service status, the
response is that the system is running normally?

Thanks

My msn messenger was working all day until now. For the past few hours it
has been giving me the same error. Someone else in my house can login to
theirs, it seems to be just my login.

I have been trying to log in for 8 hours now. One time I get the error code
saying my gateway is messed up then the next time a few hours later I get the
error that says my IE's offline setting is messed up and my gateway is fine.
What's going on?

Bon

I've been having a similar problem. I've had Live Messenger on this PC for
months, since I got it, and I use it daily. One day recently I went to log in
and it failed. I assumed the system was down and just tried again later.
Three days later I still can't sign in. Everyone I know can.

I recalled that an older version of Messenger is on my PC, it installs with
XP. I opened it and signed in instantly with no issues, but Live Messenger
will not work.

I reinstalled it. No effect.

I uninstalled it. Ran a Registry Cleaner and Mechanic. It found old Live
references and removed them.

I rebooted, degfragged my drive, rebooted, downloaded and reinstalled Live
Messenger.

Still doesn't work. The older version still does.

That's when I went to Microsofts site initially looking for support. I found
a page that has a dropdown nav listing all products that there is support
offered for. You can seemingly get support for Win98, but NO "Live" products.
Umm... Seriously?

I found this thread through Google, here's hoping someone from MS sees this
and knows how to help, as using their own support page leads me to think they
will not offer support for it. I'm sure that can't be correct. Right?
