Can't Log In

I used MSN Messenger with minimal issues. Then, I changed my email ID for NET passport per WLM instructions and can no longer log in. connection is good and connection troubleshooter does not indicate any problems. I was able to log into WLM from the Windows web site, but not from my desktop. Firewall may be my problem, but I can't get the windows firewall to turn off from the security control panel.
