Can't log in to XP Pro after Update

Downloaded the automatic update that popped up yesterday (9 Jan 06).
After restarting my computer, the account screen appears as normal, but
everytime I click on my (or any account), the login process appears to begin,
but then I get the 'logging off' icon and it kicks me back to the account
menu screen. I can't even log on to see what is happening. This is
definitely not a good thing.
