can't log on xp

on start up it says to click on user names and our user names are not there.
help
i can use control alt delete to get to log on window but my passwords don't
work need help to log in .

Hi - this group is for Windows Update issues. I suggest you post to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general and provide a lot more detail - Home or
Pro, SP level, what happened just before this error occurred.
