-- Every time I try to move a file in W.E. by dragging, I get the message
Windows Explorer has stopped working". It tells me there is a fix, (KP
something or other) but when I down load it I am told it is not applicable to
my computer (Sony Vaio running Vista Business). Nor can I move things by
right clicking and using the drop down menu. Has anyone a solution? It used
to work ok.

Did you download the right fix for the right platform? Link me to it, there
might be two versions for x86 and x64.

Hi Andre. The fix that keeps coming up when W.E closes is KB938979, but when
I download it it says it is not applicable to my computer (Sony VAIO VGN
SZ243GN, puchased in Australia. Don't know if that is a difficulty. I'm
holidaying in the UK, and got so fed up with Vista I had it taken off some
months ago to have XP installed instead. However it was not successful
because some drivers (I understand) were not compatible with the Australian
configuration. Windows Explorer has always worked erratically (one of the
reasons I wanted to go back to XP), but recently completely refuses to let me
move anything anywhere. I think I got an error message some time ago saying
that the problem could be associated with the Ricoh Caplio digital camera
driver. I usually get a Blue Screen on start up after I have down loaded
photos, but have now uninstalled the driver (via Control Panel), but it made
no difference to W.Exp. Grateful for any advice. Allen
