I am SO irritated right now...

All I want to do is move a folder from my "Downloads" folder to my
"Music" folder. Just a simple drop and drag.

WHY WON'T IT LET ME?!?!

Sorry, but Dell tech support was NO help. I'm about to just go linux.
Arrgh...

Someone please help before I pull all of my hair out... Thanks!!

Hi ThePastafarian,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

What error message does it give you?

Is it a folder that a program uses to store stuff in? If so, you will
need to change the location from within the program's settings to use
the other location instead.

You might check in Task Manager to see if anything in the folder is
still running under the "Processes" tab. If so, "End Process" it, then
try. You might also try booting into Safe Mode and try moving it. This
way nothing should be running from that folder location.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Right-click on the folder and select CUT. Then open
your music folder, right-click and select PASTE.

Well now it's letting me do it... I don't know...

I'm sure the problem will re-assert itself when I least expect it. I'll
come back when it does. Thanks anyway Brink!! I appreciate the quick
response!!!

Carey - Thanks, but I had already tried that as well, and it wasn't
working. I think it had something to do with the read-only attribute, so
I went into cmd and just un-applied the attribute to everything in those
folders. Maybe that fixed it? Who knows. Thanks anyway though!

Did the attrib actually stick ? I've found that for some reason my
directories keep returning to read only status. System metadata effecting
file permissions maybe ?
