Hi people,

I am new to vista, and i'd like to add toolbars (by right clicking on
taskbar, toolbars, new toolbar), I pick a directory, the new toolbar appears,
and then i try to move it out of the taskbar, with no success!!!
I used to do it with XP, in order to stick it on a side of my second screen.
Do you have any clue???

Thanks!!!

PS : I can move my new toolbar inside of the taskbar, it ain't locked.
PS2 : I'm french, so descriptions may be approximative (and my vista is in
french too).

Tool bars can be opened or closed by right clicking in the Quick Launch Bar
but the are then in the QLB. You cannot drag them onto your desktop in Vista
or in XP.

Wrong.

You could in XP, you can't in Vista.

Thanks for your answer, ThePro.
But is this a "It's impossible in vista" or you simply don't know?
I'm really disapointed without this feature, I used to have a big taskbar on
theright of my screen with lots of shortcuts, I'm missing it!!!!
Any idea on how to enable this? (maybe via registry???)

Thank again

I know it's impossible without 3rd party software.

Je sais que ce n'est pas possible sans logiciel tiers. ;-)

I an writing this in XP. You cannot move a Tool bar from the quick launch
bar except for languages. Still you can make short cuts on your desktop of
anything so go that route,

There is a hack to create new tool bars that will attach to the top or
sides of your screen. (they will not look like the task bar but all the
functions of a taskbar are there)

Make a new folder on your desktop give it a name.

Drag your new folder to the edge of your screen, it will change into a
toolbar.

Delete the folder you created that is on the desktop.

Now your new tool bar is functional and ready to use as a standard
toolbar.

Hope this helps

Definitively wrong. In XP, you can have your task bar along the left hand
side of the screen and a tool bar (e.g. address) at the bottom.

Thanks for your interest in this discussion, ThePro and Ian.
Here is what I have under XP:

made either with right-click, toolbars, etc... or by drag'n dropping folders
to the edge of the screen, you're right Ian.
So I'll try tomorrow the drag'n drop method on vista, may this work???

ThePro, really good french trad' for "third party software" ;-)

Thanks again!!
