Can't open IE and Outlook 2000 after recent update

Hi,
I appreciate any advice I can get on this. Just after getting the
latest MS update I have had this problem.

Whenever I open Outlook 2000 or IE My laptop gets a popup message that
says: "Microsoft Outlook (or IE) has encountered an error and needs to
close".

When I check the details I get the following:

AppVer: 9.0.2416 ModName: mshtml.dll
Mod Ver 7.0.6000.16587 Offset: 000eb9a1

Any ideas? Where can I get help with this. I have three years of
important business emails that I can't get to.

Sorry - new to this post - YES, I have the same problem although not sure why
it happened ( not after a MS update). Seemed to be related to my Trend Macro
anti spam free version expiring and not being able to update it. You wrote
weeks ago - where are things at now for you?
