Greetings Shannon,
Well you've already proven you can search since you've located the answers with the router,
so girl or not, I think you're doing quite well
Anyway, even though the router reset didn't work, it's important to eliminate the network as
a problem. To do so, just unplug the router, then reboot your computer and then see if
Messenger comes up. If it comes up, plug the router back in, wait a minute or two and try to
sign in again.
Assuming that didn't change anything, more details would be great. For instance, has
Messenger worked in the past? If yes, did you just upgrade Messenger to a new version?
Also, after trying to start Messenger, right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, choose
Task Manager, and when the Task Manager shows up, click the Processes tab. Look down the
list for msnmsgr.exe. If it's not there, then it's obviously crashing when it starts.
Finally, since I realize this problem is disruptive, you can make use of the various
web-based Messenger clients to at least get on Messenger and chat while you still have this
problem. There's an official one that isn't that great, and some third-party ones. Feel
free to use whichever you like the most:
