I can play youtube video only if I go to www.youtube.com. When
viewing the video using IE 8.0, if I click the embed button, copy
the code, paste it to notepad, enclose the code with
(html)(body)...(/body)(/html)(can't use less than greater than
signs here or the newsreader won't let me post), save the file as
test.html, open it using IE 8.0, it WON'T play (but FireFox will).
All I see is a generic box with a small icon on the top left
corner, indicating there should be a picture or video.

I went into tools/security and enabled every thing that was
related to Active X. Still, no change.

Any help? Thanks.

This is on an XP SP3.

I'd suggest checking to see if embedding has been disabled by the owner
of the video on the YouTube side. It is a feature now available to
YouTube users to prevent people from framing their video on pages that
may generate advertising dollars for a pirate site, or on sites that may
otherwise post misleading text in conjunction with an embedded video.

In this way you can only go to the YouTube page to view the video there.

You may be able to generate the code but it will not work because it is
inhibited on the YouTube end.

If this is your video, then check all YouTube settings to make sure you
didn't accidently activate that feature.

Thanks for your reply. Since the same page can be played by
Firefox without any problems, I believe the problem is specific to
IE, not the video itself.
