I have a laptop running Vista networked to a desktop running XP. Printer is
attached to the desktop and I can print documents such as Word or Excel from
my laptop; however when I try to print a web page directly from Internet
Explorer, Internet Explorer hangs up and will not print. Any idea?

Ron

Hi Ron,

And in no-Addons mode? (there are some Addons that enhance IE's Printing
(IEPrint)

Does this occur always? or just at a particular web site?

Regards.

It happens on all web sites!

Am running IE8 with add-ons enabled. Have not tried with it disabled; should
I?

Thanks for the help.

In IE, click File>Print and make sure the default printer is the one you
intend it to be. If the printer got reset to something you are not
expecting, then you could have the problem you report.

Also, click File>Print Preview and see that the Webpage you want to print is
displayed in the Preview window.

The Default printer for Office applications is not always the same as for
IE, so the fact that Office apps print properly means the driver is up to
date and the printer works. The only thing left is to make sure the printer
for IE is actually the printer you think it should be.

The printer icon in IE will invoke the default pirnter, but File>Print will
allow you to select a different printer. The icon won't let you make any
changes to the printer.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, you should look at the Print Preview just to be sure
the image is properly rendered. I'm not sure what it means if the image is
not rendered, but it seems to me that there is a clue in the rendering or
lack thereof.

The problem persisted when IE was started with add-ons disabled?

Is Microsoft Software Inventory Analyzer (MSIA) installed? If so, uninstall
it.

Yes the issue persisted when IE was started with add-ons disabled.

I am not familiar with MSIA and do not find it under programs. Where else
should I look?

Thanks again for the help,
Ron
