Can't Put Computer In "Sleep" Automatically

Vista 64 Bit -- The Sleep mode cannot be set automatically. It will g
into Sleep manually with no problem when I close the notebook or clic
on the sleep button. But when I set the time nothing happens. I've trie
everything including suggestions from HP. When I first got the compute
several months ago it worked. Something changed it - any suggestions...
