Hi,

I have this problem in that all messages from just one of my contacts
are displayed incorrectly. Instead of txt, I can a load of mixed up
symbols

When I copy n paste the message into say "google search engine box" the
text displays normally?

When I paste it into WORD, it stays in symbol format but it says the
font is WST_Engl?

EVERYONE ELSE IS FINE

I have also copied the history file for this contact from an old
windows xp machine to this one. Could that be a causing a problem is
some wierd way?
I have tried deleting the history file but no joy?

This is very odd!

I have Vista 64bit

Greetings,

WST_Engl is a system font, which leads me to suspect that your contact is using a third-party
client that is not sending font information (Adium, Pidgin, etc.) which will force it to go
to a system font.

I'm curious what locale both and your contact are in (and which Windows versions thereof, as
well as what language(s) you're using). However, assuming your contact won't correctly
configure their client for sending fonts, that is if whatever software they're using even
supports said function, you can use Messenger Plus Live (http://www.msgplus.net) to override
specific contacts' fonts with your own to avoid this problem.

After installing Plus (note, like most free software today there is an optional sponsor
program that you get asked if you want to install, clicking no to that option does not impair
the function of the application), open up a conversation window to the contact in question,
press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, choose the Plus! menu, and then
Override Contact's Font.

To directly answer your secondary question though, the history isn't a factor here.

Hi,

I am in Aberdeen, SCOLTAND and she is located in Krakow, POLAND. I never
used to have this problem with her before on my old machine which had Windows
XP and it seems strange that i'm only having a problem with one contact?

I'm guessing that she has Windows XP on her machine ...

I will try this Messenger Plus, it sounds promising.

Cheers

Lewis
