You're right, that email address still doesn't work.
There must be something you are missing in the sign-up process.

Would you consider trying an account email address that does not contain a
special character such as your "_" symbol? Some email programs don't allow
them at all, and it seems to me I saw that somewhere about Live IDs but I
can't find anything supporting that now. Perhaps you could sign up as
"tojoie" or "joieto" and see if you still experience issues. Just a thought
