I can't receive messages from anyone

As of a few days ago, people have been receiving error messages after sending
me messages and I talk to people unless I say something in a chat, at which
point they can talk for ex-amount of time before they're cut off again. When
it started I updated to Windows Live Messenger which didn't help; I
reinstalled the program which didn't help, and I've tried using a completely
different IM program with the same account and the problem happened with that
too. I don't think it's a virus specific to MSN Messenger, maybe it's a
firewall problem, but I don't have any firewalls up, and I haven't installed
anything like that which could cause this problem. I'm stumped, please help!

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick replies, Shane. Much appreciated.

I flushed my DNS resolver cache, and I did "delete files" and "delete
cookies" in IE but that was about it. It's still not working though, nothing
seems to have changed :\

guys...i've been having the same problem myself...since like...less than a
week ago or so
i thought perhaps maybe it was a problem with my computer, so i ended up
formatting my computer to see if that helped...reinstalled messenger...GUESS
WOT?

....it DIDN'T work... -_-;;;

so yeah, (should've done this 1st) so i tried logging into my windows live
messenger from ANOTHER computer...and yeah, still same problem...and it's
REALLY starting to bug me now...

i've emailed the msn suppport people...but i've had no replies from them and
i'm getting VERY frustrated...

Someone from Shawn's WLM 8.0812.00 thread here. I am having the exact same
problem. I've reinstalled WLM, flushed the DNS cache, and even tried deleting
some certain messenger cache registry files that was suggested on another
board. I too, had this begin last Tuesday or Wednesday I believe. I share
your pain...I wish the support people would look into this problem because it
seems to be growing.

Do your accounts work on MSN Web Messenger? Or are there still the same
problems as before?

(go to http://webmessenger.msn.com/)

If not, you can use that as a temporary solution until the (what appears to
be large) problem is resolved or even picked up on by Microsoft.

From what people are saying, though, it seems to be a server-side problem,
so before anybody else goes and formats their disk, wait and see if
Microsoft fix it. Cause it isn't MSN/Live Messenger that's doing it - that's
been confirmed by someone else on this thread who used another IM program.

HTH,

Mike

The very last thing you do when M$ has problems is to format. The problems
are 99% due to M$. Called profit and loss. Get the software out and let
Joe Public sort it out. I am not a Troll but just Joe Public and I am
getting sick to death of it.

hmm...started working for me again as well...YAY (dun wanna speak too soon
AGAIN)...but YAY anyway...lol

....i dunno if i should be writing about this, it's a conspiracy theory i
just started thinking about after what happened for the last week or
so...probably end up getting read up by m$n personnel and get my account
banned or something...but i'll write it up anyway...;; M$N PPL, PLEASE dun
ban my account if it's the truth (or even if it's wrong...)

WELL...i just had this crazy idea...that M$ decided to select a few regular
users of messenger and make them suffer what we suffered. from this, they
observed how many of the people who were affected by this experiment took
action in an attempt to fix the problem (all of us on the forum are one of
them), this includes through the use of consulting m$n support website
thingie where u bitch by email about ur problems.
through this, msn can obvserve how many of the selected users were desparate
enough to take time and effort to rectify the situation.
....what can they find out from this?...they can figure out whether people
are willing to PAY for m$n as a form of communication...

Dear Microsoft... although i REALLY do appreciate your windows messaging
software, i believe that making users pay for the service is not going to go
very well. i am 1 of many who is a regular user of the messenger service, but
have 2nd thoughts when it comes to having to pay for the service.

....just sharing my honest thoughts...DK
